1. Purpose
These guidelines define how users must acknowledge SRG-ICS-UPLB in theses, publications, reports, and other outputs that utilized its computing facilities.
Acknowledgment ensures:
- Proper attribution of institutional support
- Visibility of the facilities in research outputs
- Justification for continued funding and expansion
Since we offer our services for free (sometimes for good coffee) and we also use the resources for our own research, we reserve the right to accept or deny requests.
2. Scope
These guidelines apply to:
- Undergraduate and graduate theses
- Faculty research publications
- Technical reports and project documentation
- Conference papers and posters
- Software artifacts and datasets generated using SRG-ICS-UPLB computing facilities
3. When Acknowledgment is Required
Users must acknowledge SRG-ICS-UPLB if they used any of the following:
- Compute resources (CPU, GPU nodes)
- Storage systems (home, scratch, project space)
- Installed software environments
- Technical support from SRG-ICS-UPLB members
- Training or workshops provided by the lab
4. Standard Acknowledgment Statement
All users must include the following statement (or equivalent):
The completion of this work was supported by the computational facilities and expertise made available by the Systems Research Group, Institute of Computer Science, University of the Philippines Los BaƱos.
5. Placement of Acknowledgment
Theses and Dissertations
- Must appear in the Acknowledgments section
Journal and Conference Papers
- Must appear in the Acknowledgments section before references
Posters and Presentations
- Include SRG-ICS-UPLB Logo

6. Authorship vs. Acknowledgment
- SRG-ICS-UPLB group members should be acknowledged, not listed as co-authors, unless they made significant intellectual contributions (e.g., algorithm design, analysis, or writing).
- Routine technical assistance does not qualify for authorship.
7. Reporting Requirement
Users may be required to submit the following to SRG-ICS-UPLB:
- Copy of thesis or publication
- Citation details (title, authors, venue, year)
- Description of facilities usage
This supports:
- Impact tracking
- Annual reporting
- Funding proposals
8. Compliance
Failure to acknowledge SRG-ICS-UPLB may result in denial of future requests.
